Air Testing

LEAK TESTING

This is carried out around an enclosure whilst an asbestos removal operation is being carried out to monitor fibre levels.

REASSURANCE / BACKGROUND TESTING

This is generally carried out where asbestos materials are known or suspected to be present to assess the asbestos fibre levels within the area.

PERSONAL MONITORING

In this procedure a personal monitoring pump is attached to a worker undertaking an asbestos removal operation to measure the fibre levels that are being generated during the work.

FOUR STAGE CLEARANCE TESTING

Following the completion of an asbestos removal operation where a tented enclosure has been erected it is a requirement of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR2012) that a a four stage clearance testing operation be carried out prior to the tented enclosure being removed. In accordance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR2012) this must be undertaken by an organisation who holds UKAS accreditation “UKAS Accredited Testing Laboratory No 2230” for four stage clearance testing. Each stage of the clearance procedure must comply with the requirements of HSE.HSG248 before the next stage can be undertaken, only when stages 1 to 3 have been completed and passed assessment can the tented enclosure be dismantled and the stage 4 procedure be carried out.

Surveying

ASBESTOS MANAGEMENT SURVEYS

This type of survey is undertaken with minimal intrusion to locate the presence of accessible potential Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM’s) in a property. All accessible potential ACM’s are sampled for laboratory analysis with the location and condition of these materials being recorded. Following laboratory analysis of materials sampled an asbestos management survey report in accordance with HSE HSG264 is produced and issued to the client.

ASBESTOS DEMOLITION SURVEYS

An asbestos demolition survey is required prior to demolition work being undertaken on any building. This type of survey is similar to a refurbishment survey but involves a more destructive investigation to access and inspect difficult to reach areas for the presence of potential ACM’s. All potential ACM’s identified are sampled for laboratory analysis with the location and condition of these materials being recorded. Following laboratory analysis of materials sampled an asbestos demolition survey report in accordance with HSE HSG264 is produced and issued to the client.

ASBESTOS REFURBISHMENT SURVEYS

An asbestos refurbishment survey is required prior to any refurbishment work being undertaken in a building. This type of survey involves locating all ACM’S (as far as reasonably practical) within the area where refurbishment is planned. This type of survey is intrusive and involves disturbing surface materials to locate and sample hidden potential ACM’s with the location and condition of these materials being recorded. Following laboratory analysis of materials sampled an asbestos refurbishment survey report in accordance with HSE HSG264 is produced and issued to the client.
